Dieting - coming off the Alli weight-loss tablets

This week I lost 4lbs.

I've been taking the Alli weight-loss pills for 17 weeks. Actually although I've been on the diet for 17 weeks, I've been taking the tablets for a few days less as I had my last tablet on Wednesday evening when I used the last of the packet. The reason I've stopped taking alli is that my weight is now below a BMI of 28. The Alli pills are only available to those with a BMI of over 28.

The risk is with any diet that once you stop the diet then the weight will come back on. Rather than put some weight back on I'm still on the diet and home to continue loosing weight. The difference is that I won't have Alli pills to help me.

The Alli tablet is not a magic diet pill, but it can help increase the amount of weight lost compared with dieting alone. Whilst taking the tablets one has to stick to a very rigid diet and and I'm going to try and continue that.

I still have about 2 months less until may target end date. It'd be nice to get down to my ideal weight by then, but I'm certainly happy with the amount I've lost so far.

Here is a quick rundown on some of the statistics.

During the last 17 weeks, I've gone from being obese to overweight loosing 4 stone 6 lbs (62 lbs or 28 kgs). I've lost over two thirds of the difference between the ideal range and my starting weight. My BMI has gone from 34.9 to 27.

I've gone down 4 inches in my trouser waist size and am now buying some clothes without a single X in them (rather than XXL before).

I'm also a lot fitter, although Alli can't take credit for that, loosing so much weight has certainly helped to keep me motivated more than when I've tried diet and exercise before.

To achieve this I've spent nearly £200 on Alli pills purchased from high-street / online pharmacies (no prescription required). Although this sounds a lot of money, compared to the health effects, it's probably added years to my life (or at least reduced the risk of illness) and so has been a worthwhile investment.

Hopefully I'll continue to lose more weight, but only time will tell.
